This policy explains how DrayageUS ("we", "us"; see Operator details below) handles personal information on drayageus.com. We are responsible for your information (the "data controller" or "data fiduciary").

1. What we collectLink to the section “1. What we collect”
When you request a quote:
- your name, company, email address, country, and phone number if you give it;
- your shipment details: port, delivery ZIP, container size and number, how often you ship, special cargo, cargo ready date, what you pay now if you tell us, and any notes;
- the market range and distance the site showed you;
- your consent to share your request with a licensed US provider, and the time you gave it.
When you use the site:
- a one-way scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address, used only to limit repeated form submissions and block spam. We don't store your IP address itself for this;
- your light or dark mode choice, stored in your browser if you allow preference storage;
- usage analytics as described in section 6.
We don't ask for payment details, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
2. How we use itLink to the section “2. How we use it”
- To prepare your firm quote: we send your request to a licensed US drayage provider, who replies to you directly.
- To email you a confirmation and respond to your messages.
- To keep the site secure and prevent spam and abuse.
- To understand how the site is used and improve it (see section 6).
We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for advertising.
3. Our legal basisLink to the section “3. Our legal basis”
- Your consent, which you give with the checkbox on the quote form, for sharing your request with a provider. You can withdraw it at any time by emailing us; this doesn't affect sharing that already happened.
- Steps you ask us to take before a contract (preparing a quote) and our legitimate interests in running a secure, working site.
- Our legal obligations, where a law requires us to keep or disclose information.
4. Who we share it withLink to the section “4. Who we share it with”
- The licensed US drayage provider that prepares your quote. It receives your name, email, phone number and shipment details, and handles them under its own privacy terms once it contacts you.
- Service providers that run the site for us, only as needed to provide their service:
- Supabase: database storage (United States)
- Netlify: website hosting
- Resend: sending emails (United States)
- Google Workspace: our email inbox
- PostHog (EU Cloud, Frankfurt): website analytics (see section 6)
- Authorities, where the law requires it.
5. International transfersLink to the section “5. International transfers”
We are based in India, and our service providers and the licensed providers are mainly in the United States. Your information is therefore transferred to and stored in the United States and other countries whose laws may differ from yours. Where the law requires it, we use appropriate safeguards for these transfers, such as the providers' standard contractual terms.
6. Cookies and analyticsLink to the section “6. Cookies and analytics”
When you first visit, we ask which kinds of storage you allow:

We use PostHog for analytics. Before you make a choice, nothing is recorded. If you choose "Necessary only", or leave Analytics off, PostHog counts visits anonymously: it sets no cookies, keeps nothing on your device and doesn't store IP addresses, and it only counts page views and how many visitors move from checking a range to sending a request. If you turn Analytics on, PostHog also uses a persistent anonymous ID and records sessions with form inputs hidden.
We don't use advertising or marketing cookies. You can change your choice at any time with in the footer.
7. How long we keep itLink to the section “7. How long we keep it”
- Quote requests and your contact details: 24 months from your request, then deleted.
- Spam-protection records (hashed IP and time): kept only as long as needed for rate limiting, then deleted.
- Emails in our inbox: as long as needed to handle your request, and no longer than 24 months.
- Analytics data: under PostHog's retention settings, which we keep to the minimum we need.
8. Your rightsLink to the section “8. Your rights”
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of, or a summary of, the information we hold about you;
- correct or complete it;
- delete it;
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- give it to you in a portable format;
- withdraw your consent to sharing it.
If you're in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
If you're in India, under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can also nominate someone to exercise your rights if you die or become unable to, and raise a grievance with us first; if you're not satisfied with our reply, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
To use any of these rights, email quotes@drayageus.com with "Privacy" in the subject line. We may need to confirm your identity, and we'll reply within the time the law requires (normally within 30 days).
9. SecurityLink to the section “9. Security”
We protect your information with encrypted connections, restricted database access and keys that never reach your browser. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe and will act promptly if something goes wrong.

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date shows when it last changed, and we'll highlight important changes on this page.
